The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is an independent agency of the United States government. Its primary job is to protect consumers and promote fair business competition. The FTC's core mission is to stop unfair, deceptive, or fraudulent business practices, such as false advertising, hidden junk fees, and privacy violations; and to conduce antitrust enforcement by preventing illegal monopolies, blocking anti-competitive corporate mergers, and keeping markets open and competitive.
