We’re really proud to have adopted Australia’s AI Ethics voluntary code
We’re really proud to have adopted Australia’s AI Ethics voluntary code across all our platforms. By adopting the code, we are committing to uphold the highest standards of transparency, fairness and accountability in all our AI-driven platforms.
The Australian AI Ethics voluntary code is a set of principles designed to guide organisations in the ethical development and deployment of AI systems. The code encompasses eight core principles:
These principles align closely with Haast’s mission to create the world's leading marketing compliance platform, empowering organisations to achieve higher quality compliance outcomes without painful, human-driven reviews - letting you focus on your business, not your compliance checklist.
As AI becomes an integral part of our operations, adhering to ethical guidelines is essential to maintaining trust with our clients, stakeholders, and the broader community. In particular, we are focusing on:
1. Enhancing Trust through Transparency and Explainability
We have designed Haast from the ground up to support transparency and explainability in all AI decisions. This means showing exactly why a decision on whether content may pose a risk is made, highlighting the exact parts of the document driving the decision.
Each AI feature we build focuses on maintaining explainability and transparency in the process, avoiding a black box process.
2. Ensuring Contestability
One of the fundamental principles of ethical AI is the ability for individuals to contest decisions made by AI systems. At Haast, we understand that while AI can significantly enhance marketing compliance, it is not infallible. In line with the Australian AI Ethics voluntary code, we ensure that our AI systems are designed to be contestable. This means that if users believe an AI decision to be incorrect, they have the ability to provide feedback to the system. This not only means that we can ensure each decision around risk ratings is correct, but over time it also enables us to fine tune our approach to your unique risk profile, based on such feedback.
3. Prioritising Privacy and Security
Data privacy and security are at the forefront of Haast’s development process. With data breaches and privacy concerns rampant, we recognise the critical importance of protecting sensitive information. By aligning with the Australian AI Ethics voluntary code, we reaffirm our commitment to maintaining robust data protection measures. Our AI systems are designed with privacy in mind, ensuring that data is encrypted, and handled with the utmost care. We adhere to strict data governance protocols to prevent unauthorised access and ensure that our clients’ data is secure. By prioritising privacy and security, we not only comply with legal standards but also build lasting trust with our clients and their customers.
We are also ISO:27001 certified.
4. Promoting Reliability and Safety
The reliability and safety of our AI systems are paramount at Haast. As we leverage AI to automate marketing compliance, it is crucial that our systems perform consistently and accurately. The Australian AI Ethics voluntary code emphasises the need for reliable and safe AI applications, and we fully embrace this principle. We implement rigorous testing and validation processes to ensure our AI tools operate as intended, minimising the risk of errors or unintended consequences. Additionally, we continuously monitor our systems for any anomalies or issues that may arise, allowing us to address them swiftly. By promoting reliability and safety, we ensure that our clients can depend on our AI solutions to meet their compliance needs effectively.
5. Building in Accountability
Accountability is built into Haast’s entire philosophy, with human review and approval enabled throughout the platform. We ensure that there is a complete and clear audit trail around each step of our AI-enabled marketing compliance review, with humans provided the opportunity to review each step, provide additional feedback, and ultimately hold accountability for approvals.
Adopting the Australian AI Ethics voluntary code is a significant step forward in Haast’s journey towards responsible AI innovation. By embedding these ethical principles into our operations, we are not only enhancing the integrity and trustworthiness of our AI systems but also contributing to the broader goal of ensuring that AI serves the greater good. At Haast, we are committed to leading by example and fostering a future where AI technologies are used ethically and responsibly for the benefit of all.
